Last week we were lucky enough to visit London’s Clerkenwell Design Week, a treasure trove of the latest in style covering all things interiors: chairs, furniture, lighting, wall-coverings, and of course floors!
With our latest phase of design research and development well underway, this was an incredible opportunity to explore a unique and focused community, as show director, Will Knight, explains:
“Clerkenwell Design Week is particularly compact compared to festivals such as Salone del Mobile, a show taking place across the whole city of Milan. Clerkenwell stays within a neat 2.5 sq miles, an event where venues throw their doors open to the public – indeed, some doors you wouldn't know were there the rest of the year.”
Our curious minds couldn’t wait to see what’s up and coming for the AW16 season, and the show did not disappoint. Scribbling away as we moved through the exhibition’s various ‘zones’, it soon became apparent that tiles are big, big news. Whether it’s the real deal or a superbly authentic replica, the array of tile designs on offer underfoot seems to grow almost every year!
Take a look at the showcase shot above, prompting thoughts of Leoline and its funky Salsa design from the Comfortz XL collection (also pictured). For inspiration in the realms of colour and pattern, you really can’t go wrong at Clerkenwell, and we were delighted to find that many of this season’s must-have looks are already covered in the Leoline stable.
As one would expect, there were plenty of oak-inspired looks on offer, too. Herringbone was the headline act in 2015, and this has definitely spilled into 2016. A nod to tradition, the herringbone look is sought after by many but implemented by few, largely due to authentic parquet’s tricky maintenance.
Real wood requires its fair share of oiling, re-sanding and specialist treatment, headaches avoided when you plump for a stunning alternative from Leoline. Try the Toulouse design from Leoline’s Woodmark collection for oak herringbone in its warm and comforting cushion vinyl guise, style that wouldn’t look out of place among Clerkenwell’s haven of fashionable flooring.
